Lt. Ryan Flood, Public Information Officer wtih the Greenville County Sheriff's office issued the following media release Sunday.
"Deputies with the Greenville County Sheriff’s Office are conducting an investigation regarding a vehicle collision involving a South Carolina Highway Patrolman, near the intersection of W. Blue Ridge Drive and Monaghan Avenue.
Just after midnight (Saturday) deputies responded to a vehicle vs. pedestrian accident and requested the SC Highway Patrol to respond. When the trooper arrived and initiated their investigation a separate, non-related vehicle crashed into the troopers vehicle, causing the trooper to sustain injuries.
The trooper is alert and conscious but was transported for medical treatment.
Deputies have made contact with the driver of the vehicle and its occupants, and no injuries have been reported as of this time. The investigation is underway to determine what caused the accident.
