A motorist on East Railroad Street in West Union saw strange behavior coming from a man walking along the same road Tuesday, August 13th.

The driver called it in to the Oconee County Sheriff's Office.  Deputies responded and located Christian Alexander Durecki of Walhalla walking along railroad tracks and said he appeared to be shaking.  When asked to step away from the tracks, Durecki did not initially comply and gave a false name.


After some time, Authorities were able to approach Durecki after he was a safe distance from the tracks, searched the book bag he was carrying and found .49 grams of Methamphetamine inside.

Durecki was arrested and charged with Possession of Methamphetamine less than one gram and giving false information.

The Oconee County Sheriff’s Office has arrested Christian Alexander Durecki of Walhalla for possession of methamphetamine and giving false information.

On August 13th, 2019 Oconee County Sheriff’s Office deputies responded to a complaint by a motorist that there was a suspicious man that was acting erratic on East Railroad Street in West Union.

The subject was located walking along railroad tracks, when deputies approached him. The subject did not initially comply with deputies’ commands when asked to step away from the railroad tracks and appeared to be shaking. The subject also gave a false name.

After the subject was a safe distance away from the railroad tracks, he was identified as Christian Alexander Durecki. Durecki’s book bag was searched and found to have .49 grams of Methamphetamine inside of it.

Christian Alexander Durecki was arrested and transported to the Oconee County Detention Center, where he is currently being held.
