Special Guest Speaking At Statehouse

South Carolina lawmakers have invited a special guest to make a rare second appearance before both the House and Senate.

Clemson football coach Dabo Swinney will speak at the Legislature's joint assembly at noon Tuesday.

Lawmakers are celebrating Clemson's second national championship in three years. The Tigers beat Alabama 44-16 on Jan. 7.

After winning the 2017 national title, Swinney gave a 15-minute speech telling lawmakers that football unifies people across all races, ages and economic statuses. He told legislators they need to unite to do the things to make South Carolina a better place to live.

Swinney also told then-Lt. Gov. Kevin Bryant that he bet he never thought he would introduce a "Dabo."
