This morning [Thursday] the Anderson County Sheriff's Office was called to Homeland Park Elementary School when a call came in citing a suspicious package had been found.
Deputies secured the area while awaiting the arrival of the bomb squad.
The package was found to NOT be an explosive device.
According to Sgt. JT Foster developments from the investigation have led to detaining a suspect. Authorities are waiting on the courts for a warrant.

Anderson, SC (8 August 2019, 1:40 p.m. EDT) – On August 8, 2019 at approximately 6:40 am, the Anderson County Sheriff’s Office was called the Homeland Park Elementary School in Anderson for a suspicious package.
ACSO Deputies arrived and secured the scene until EOD personnel arrived. The suspicious package was rendered safe by EOD and the package was collected. Upon further inspection, the package was determined to be a lockbox.
During this investigation Detectives identified a male subject (Amos Pearson) that had brought a locking box onto the school’s property. The locking box contained other digital devices that the subject was using the school’s power to charge.
