The Spartanburg County Sheriff's Office issued the following press release Saturday.
Yesterday evening, our violent crimes investigators made another arrest for the shooting incident on Marlette Ave. from earlier this week. This suspect is a 15 year old juvenile, who confessed to investigators that he was the shooter.
While he was being interviewed, other investigators executed a search warrant at his residence and recovered a handgun that is the same caliber as the one used in the shooting. That weapon will be sent to SLED for further analysis.
This juvenile suspect was charged with Attempted Murder, Possession of a Weapon During the Commission of a Violent Crime, and Possession of a Stolen Pistol. He was detained and transported to the Department of Juvenile Justice in Columbia. At present, our investigators feel like they have apprehended all the responsible suspects.
The Spartanburg County Sheriff's Office in a press release issue Friday said a possible motive for the incident may be a robbery attempt during or after the sale of a mobile phone, but that fact has yet to be confirmed. At last report the teenage victim of the shooting is still hospitalized in critical condition.
