Washington Center School is asking for the public's help to come out and support their annual 2019 Craft Day coming up this Friday, May 10.
Not only does Craft Day raise money for things like classroom materials, equipment and field trips, it’s also incredibly important to these special children as they interact with the community. Each class sells items including jewelry, artwork, crafts, plants from the school's own greenhouse, raffle baskets, food and more. It might be a good idea to look for a gift for Mother's Day or Father's Day, too. All the proceeds go directly to each class.
The event happens Friday, May 10, from 9:30AM-1PM at Washington Center School, 2 Betty Spencer Dr, Greenville, SC 29607

More about Washington Center School: Washington Center is a separate school facility for students with severe/profound intellectual disabilities. Students are served on two specifically designed campuses. The younger children occupy a wing of Hollis Academy, renovated in 2011, with a capacity for 6 fully equipped classrooms. Older students attend the Betty Spencer Drive location, built in 2005, where there are 18 classrooms, as well as kitchens, greenhouse, gym, and media center. Additionally, at both locations there are therapy rooms, nurses' stations, administrative offices, multisensory suites and adapted playgrounds. Many of the students spend a great deal of time at the Children's Hospital and Shriner's. Because it is such a small school, teachers say it's hard to get the public to show up for their events. Fundraising is difficult since the PTA is only about 4 or 5 moms! So they really need your participation and support for this event.
