The City of Greenville held a press conference this morning with Mayor Knox White and local health experts from Prisma Health and Bon Secours St. Francis.
Each of the speakers highlighted the gravity of COVID-19 in South Carolina and urged the public to adhere to best practices.
Dr. Marcus Blackstone of Bon Secours remarked that wearing a mask is perhaps the cheapest prevention against a disease in history.
Similarly, Dr. Eric Ossmann of Prisma Health said there is no uncertainty concerning the effectiveness of masks.
"There's no ambiguity here; it's very clear. If we all wear a mask in public, we will flatten this disease curve," Dr. Ossmann said.
He addressed the issue of visual hypocrisy: while asking the community, the doctors and mayor were not wearing masks.
