NEW YORK (1010 WINS) – Gov. Andrew Cuomo’s support in New York has tanked following the attorney general’s investigation into his sexual assault allegations.
Seven out of 10 New Yorkers believe Cuomo should resign, while another 63 percent support his impeachment, according to a new Quinnipiac University poll released Friday.

The governor has received an approval rating of just 28 percent, his lowest since taking office in 2011, said the pollsters, who sampled 615 voting-age adults throughout New York state.
Eleven women accused Cuomo of sexual harassment in the report from Attorney General Letitia James’ office, bringing intense pressure on the governor to resign. As the state Assembly wraps up its impeachment investigation, Cuomo has denied the accusations and criticized the report as unfair and not a full representation of events.
While allegations of Cuomo’s misconduct became widely publicized last winter, the poll seems to show the report has significantly damaged the governor’s reputation. The governor’s approval rating dropped a full 10 points from March, according to Quinnipiac data.
Republicans are more likely to believe Cuomo should resign, but a majority of Democrats and independents do so as well, the findings show.
The poll also found many New Yorkers are unfamiliar with Cuomo’s would-be replacement, Lt. Gov. Kathy Hochul.
Nearly half of responders -- 48 percent -- did not offer an opinion on her job performance.
