First Lady Jill Biden decorated the North Lawn of the White House Friday morning in honor of Valentine's Day.
Photos show hearts in pink, white and red colors saying "Compassion," "Healing," "Love" and some of the hearts were even signed "Love, Jill."

The First Lady told reporters at the White House on Friday that she "just wanted some joy” during a surprise visit to the lawn with President Joe Biden and their two German shepherds, Champ and Major.

“I think things have been so — with the pandemic — everybody’s feeling a little down, so it’s just a little joy, a little hope, that’s all," according to reporting from an Associated Press story.

Valentine's Day is Biden's favorite holiday, according to her husband, President Joe Biden.
Her office also released this statement to USA Today and other media: "As you may know, the first lady is known for her sense of humor, love of surprises, and celebrating traditions, especially with her family," the statement said. "Valentine’s Day has always been one of her favorite holidays. Sending messages of healing, unity, hope and compassion, this is her Valentine to the country."
