The S.C. Highway Patrol responded to a call Sunday night in Pickens County related to a traffic accident.
According to a report from trooper Joe Hovis, the accident occurred on private property when 21-year-old Ava Clair DeVine got out of her car.
The car then rolled back and struck Devine. She was pronounced dead on the scene.
The accident occurred at DeVine's familiy's home, and Furman University President Elizabeth Davis also announced the passing in a statement Monday and gave her condolences to the family of the Furman Senior.
