The Governor is making stops around the state to promote the Minority and Small Business Relief Grant Program.

Gov. McMaster spoke to small business owners in Charleston Wednesday and told them the deadline for applying for the latest coronavirus aid is days away and and it could be their chance to get financial relief from the state.

The Post and Courier reports that state legislators allocated $40 million for small businesses and $25 million for non-profits recovering from the economic setback due to the pandemic.

The application window opened Monday, but the deadline for online applications is before end of the day Nov. 1.

This afternoon McMaster made a stop at Smith & James Inc. on Trade Street in Greer.

He was joined by local Director Marcia Adams, Lt. Governor Pamela Evette, and several small business owners.

They outlined how small business impacts the economy of South Carolina and how to qualify for the grants.

Lt. Gov. Evette referenced her own time in business and noted how small businesses have a difference perspective than big businesses.

McMaster is scheduled to make another stop at the International Culinary Institute of Myrtle Beach tomorrow.
