More of the Blue Ridge Parkway opens.

Wednesday morning, November 6, 2024, the National Park Service said approximately 11 more miles of the Blue Ridge Parkway has been restored within the Asheville corridor.  The newly open roadway extends from US 70 near the Folk Art Center to NC Route 91 near the Arboretum including the French Broad Overlook. (milepost 382.5-393.8)

Some more good news, the Asheville Visitor Center, will now resume year-round operations daily from 9:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Folk Art Center operations, are scheduled to resume Saturday, November 9, 2024.

Trails in this section of the Parkway are also open but extreme caution is advised as the ground could still be unsteady in spots.

Blue Ridge Parkway Superintendent Tracy Swartout said "With today’s opening, we have now restored access to over 310 miles of the Parkway.”
