The South Carolina Highway Patrol investigated a deadly incident on I-85 northbound in Anderson County early Saturday morning.
Master Trooper Gary Miller reports the driver of a 2005 Kia Sorento ran off the roadway and struck the median wall. The Kia overturned and a passenger was ejected from the vehicle.
The driver of the Kia, Jackson T. Jabryan, 19, of Greenville was seat belted and was injured. The passenger was ejected onto to the roadway.
The passenger was then struck by a 2019 Freightliner tractor-trailer and died at the scene. The driver of the Freightliner was seat belted and was not injured.
The South Carolina Highway Patrol and MAIT team are investigating the collision.
