Anderson County's Westside High School was on high alert for a short time earlier Friday, April 26, 2024.
According to the Sheriff's Office, around 12:30pm, a call came in reporting someone firing shot inside the school. Law enforcement rushed the scene and began to search inside Westside High. According to the Sheriff's Office Facebook Page they learned "it was a HOAX" and continued to clear the school as a necessary precaution.
Around 1:30pm Officials posted "Students and staff are SAFE at WESTSIDE HIGH SCHOOL. NO active shooter is inside the school."
The Criminal Investigations Division is investigating and working to learn where the 911 call originated from.
