An Abbeville teenager will spend the next 30 years behind bars after pleading guilty to murder. Jaylon Thomas Elmore was 18 years old in July of 2023 when police say he killed a man with a machete.
The Abbeville Police Department charged Elmore with murder after 41 year old, Albert Moultrie was found dead inside his home. Investigators say Elmore initially denied being at Moultrie's home. He then admitted to killing Moultrie but claimed that Moultrie had pulled a gun on him and he used the machete in self defense.
Elmore has been sentenced to 30 years in prison and will not be eligible for early release. Court records say that the incident happened after Elmore had become obsessed with Moultrie's sister and had been told to stay away from her.
