An investigation is underway after a 3 month old died after being on life support at an Upstate hospital. Cherokee County Coroner Dennis Fowler says, the baby was brought to the Cherokee Hospital in Gaffney by his father, Saturday night.
The child was unresponsive but was resuscitated and then airlifted to the Children's Hospital in Greenville. The baby died Wednesday and has since been identified as Malachi Tate Jr. of Gaffney.
Fowler says there were injuries to the child's body and the fatal injuries were caused by abuse. An autopsy is set to be performed on Friday.
