Arrest made in Midlands shooting that left three teens dead

A teenager is in custody n murder charges after a weekend shooting in the Midlands, left three other teens dead and a fourth wounded.

As we previously reported, the Richland County Sheriff's Department responded to Saddletrail Road just outside Columbia around 2 PM, Sunday afternoon.

Upon arrival deputies found four teenagers suffering from gunshot wounds. Three of the four died after being transported to a local hospital. A 14 year old was shot and injured and has since been treated and released from the hospital. The 14 year old is said to be the younger brother of one of the three that died.

Now, Richland County Sheriff Leon Lott says 17 year old, Jakeem Griffin has been arrested on three counts of murder and one count of attempted murder.

The three victims that died were all students at Eau Claire High School in Columbia. The Coroner's Office has identified them as 17 year old, Dre'Von Riley, 16 year old Jakobe Fanning, and 17 year old Caleb Wise.

Sheriff Lott says, he expects additional arrests to be made in the case. WLTX TV in Columbia is reporting that other shooters were involved in the incident.
