An Asheville woman is in custody after being charged in the death of an infant, last year. The Asheville Police Department says, Samantha Lynn Higgins is charged with involuntary manslaughter and felony child abuse following the death of 8-month old, Dani Harmon.
In September of last year, investigators were called to Mission Hospital in Asheville to look into claims that a baby fatally overdosed.
The autopsy results revealed that the infant died from blunt force injuries to the head and was exposed to fentanyl.
Higgins was taken into custody Thursday, she's being held at the Buncombe County Jail.
