One drink we take for granted... The ole H2O.

But Upstate residents, we shouldn't, because we have some of the best water in the state... and possibly the Country.

Greenville Water announced it has been selected as the recipient of the prestigious South Carolina American Water Works Association's 2024 Exemplary Source Water Protection Award for Very Large Source Water Systems. Great water comes with a long title.

Last week the utility won the Best Tasting Water in the state at the South Carolina Environmental Conference. Now Greenville Water has the opportunity to go on to national competition for "Best of the Best" drinking water, a title they won in 2011.

The winner will be presented at the American Water Works Association annual conference in Anaheim, California in June.

According to their website, Greenville Water draws water from three sources: Table Rock Reservoir, North Saluda Reservoir and Lake Keowee. These watersheds supply a majority of water service to nearly 500,000 residents in the Upstate region of South Carolina, making GW the largest water supplier in the state according to SC Department of Natural Resources.
