Multiple agencies are investigating after a body was discovered Tuesday afternoon, October 27, 2026 on Broadway Lane in Waterloo, in Laurens County.
The Newberry County Sheriff’s Office says it’s assisting in the search for 87-year-old Edwin Geer of Chappells, who has been reported missing.

According to the sheriff’s office, Geer’s truck was found several miles from where the body was discovered. Chappells is about 15 miles from the scene.
The Laurens County Coroner’s Office and Sheriff’s Office are working to identify the deceased. Authorities have not confirmed whether the body is that of Geer.
