The body of a local man who was killed in the line of duty while serving as police officer in Las Vegas, has been returned to the Upstate. Officials say the body of Austin Abdelnabi also known as "Zade" arrived at GSP airport around 7 o'clock, Monday night.
He was a Greenville native and graduated from Blue Ridge High School in Greer. Abdelnabi was a decorated military veteran and earned his criminal justice degree from Clemson prior to becoming a Las Vegas police officer.
As we previously reported, Abdelnabi died after a shootout with a suspect, earlier this month. The Sheriff of Clark County Nevada says Abdelnabi was ambushed by the suspect when he arrived on scene. Multiple local law enforcement agencies helped escort his body to a Greenville Funeral Home.
He is survived by his wife Sage, his parents and three siblings. Zade Abdelnabi was just 30 years old.
