Anderson County Sheriff's deputies responded to a report of a body found in a wooded area Tuesday morning near a home along Cumming Springs Road just off of Highway 81 in Starr.
When deputies arrived, they found they body of a woman. The Anderson County Coroner's Office identified the victim as 58 year old Billie Jean Cross of Laurens who had previously been reported as missing from Laurens County.
The coroner's office said it appeared Cross had been dead for several days. So far no suspects have been identified. That investigation continues.
