A Greenville County man is facing kidnapping charges for a carjacking that led to a muli-county chase and the roadside rescue of the toddler who was in the vehicle when it was swiped, Thursday afternoon.
It started just before 3:30 when the three year old boy's father left him in the car to get him a drink at a Spinx store on East Butler Road in Mauldin. Police say that's when the suspect identified as Ketoro Leslie jumped out of another car, got behind of the wheel of the man's Ford Fusion, and drove off unaware of the the little boy in the backseat.
A high-speed pursuit led into Anderson County where the carjacker baled out on Stillwater Road near Piedmont and ran. He was quickly captured by deputies from both counties. In the meantime another driver had spotted the child walking near Oak Road, frightened but unhurt.
Amongst a book of charges, including habitual offender, Leslie faces trial for auto theft, reckless endangerment of a child in Anderson county and kidnapping out of Mauldin.
