Two cases of children, both four years old, wounded by gunfire are under investigation. City Police say charges are expected in the incident Tuesday afternoon at a home on Hillcrest Drive in Easley. A four year old who found a handgun in the house managed to fire it. The child was treated for a non-life threatening wound, later described as an abrasion, suggesting a close call.
SLED is joining the Newberry County investigation of another child brought to the hospital around 8:30 Tuesday morning suffering a serious gunshot wound to the torso. A family member told deputies the little boy found the gun in an unlocked box in his parents' bedroom. They were both asleep. The child is recovering from emergency surgery the sheriff's office says saved his life. ))
