(Greenville, SC) -- The City of Greenville reports total crime in the city is down 16.6% year to date.
During a presentation to City Council, Police Chief Howie Thompson said officers are working to prevent crime while building relationships with residents. Thompson said, “Our officers have worked tirelessly this year, initiating calls, staying visible in neighborhoods, and engaging proactively with residents.”
Property crime alone fell 19% over the past year. The Greenville Police Department uses the My90 survey tool to gather feedback from residents. Survey results show 91% satisfaction with both responding officers and dispatchers, while negative responses remained in the low single digits.
In a press release, Greenville Mayor Knox White praised officers for their professionalism and dedication to the community.
