Improvements are coming to the City of Laurens.

According to a social media post by Mayor Nathan Senn, they city will use a $1.28M grant, from the South Carolina Department of Transportation, to modernize sidewalks, making them ADA compliant and uncovering historic brick streets, paved over with asphalt. The transformative project is all in an effort to make the Square safer, more accessible and preserving the city's historical charm.

Mayor Senn said the SCDOT will manage the construction of the project while working with the City, since most of the streets are owned and maintained by the DOT.
