The US House Ethics Committee has opened an investigation into South Carolina's First District Congresswoman Nancy Mace.

This comes after the Office of Congressional Conduct reported alleged that Mace was improperly reimbursed for lodging in Washington DC. Her attorney has disputed the allegations .

Mace is a very polarizing political figure and has both staunch supporters and motivated detractors. She has also drawn the ire of the LGBTQ community.

Despite the fact she was subject of a death threat from a biological male who identifies as a woman, Mace has still been a target of that community. I was on hand last year, when Mace held an event in Greenville that drew protestors from that community.

While the protests ended up being non-violent, I could feel the tensions rising and was concerned violence might erupt between the protestors and those there to support Mace.

Mace is one five Republicans seeking the Republican nomination in South Carolina Governors race. The GOP Primary is set to be held in June.
