Controversy surrounds billboard on major Upstate highway

A billboard in the Upstate is becoming the centerpiece of controversy. The billboard is located off of I-385 in Laurens County and reads "Rejoice! God Loves Trans Kids".

The message is sponsored by a group called Alliance For Full Acceptance or AFFA. The billboard is part of a group of 6 statewide currently sponsored by the organization. Others in the Low Country read " God Loves LGTBQ+ People".


Some leaders in Laurens County have taken issue with the billboard. The County's GOP Chairman Luke Rankin said" God does love trans people, but God hates their sin. I, too, can love them, but at the same time I will call out transgenderism and the LGBTQ agenda for what it is – because it’s wrong and evil. We cannot normalize the mutilation of kids and just accept it."

 The AFFA says it is considering putting up more billboards around the Upstate
