
A convicted killer from the Upstate has died in a prison in the Midlands. The South Carolina Department Of Corrections says, 48 year old Trey Chavez Brown was found unresponsive in his cell Tuesday morning, at Broad River Correctional in Columbia.
Officials say, his death is being investigated as a homicide. Brown was serving a 35 year sentence after pleading guilty to murder in 2016. Investigators say, Brown fatally shot his father in law James Kennedy, at Kennedy's Abbeville County home in 2006.
Brown's death is under investigation by the South Carolina Department Of Corrections, SLED and the Richland County Coroner's Office.
