A life sentence has been handed down after a security guard was shot at an Upstate night club, over three years ago. The 13th Circuit Solicitor's Office says 44 year old, William Lykis McKinney was found guilty of attempted murder and multiple weapons violations.
The charges stem from an incident at Club Dolce on White Horse Road in Greenville on July 4th, of 2020. Security video showed that McKinney was holding a gun when he approached a group of people outside.
Club security approached and asked McKinney to drop the gun. He refused and shot a club security guard three times, nearly killing him. McKinney fled the scene and was apprehended after a high speed police chase.
