Coroner's report says inmate deaths drug related

Toxicology results back after two inmate deaths in May of this year

The investigation into the deaths of two inmates at an Upstate jail earlier this year, is now complete. 36 year old Allen Lindsay Zack and 45 year old, Randy Eugene Broome both died May 12th at the Greenville County Detention Center.

Since then their deaths have been under investigation. The Greenville County Coroner's Office has now released their findings in the investigations saying, that both deaths were drug related.


The cause of death for Randy Broome was listed as combined toxic effects of fentanyl and another drug. Zack's cause of death is listed as acute fentanyl toxicity. The manner of death for both men is listed as accidental.
