
Funding has been approved to re-open the emergency department at an area hospital. The Greenville County Council has approved spending the remaining bulk of its federal covid relief funding on re-opening the emergency department at Prisma Health's hospital in Travelers Rest.

The county will allocate 13.5 million for that project after Prisma had requested 16 million to re-open and maintain the department. The county will also use federal funding for a 3 million dollar project to upgrade the MetroConnects Sewer system and 2 million will be allocated for moving the county's emergency operations center to McAlister Square.
