New details have been released after schools in Spartanburg County were placed on a secure hold, Friday morning. The Spartanburg County Sheriff's Office says they received a report about a vehicle that may have been carrying drugs.
Just after 8:30 AM, a Deputy spotted the vehicle near Dorman High School and about a minute later the driver turned around and came back to Highway 221.
A traffic stop was initiated but the driver refused to stop. The driver continued to drive around the county which prompted secure holds at Gable Middle and Pauline-Glenn Springs Elementary schools for a short period of time.
Deputies eventually used a pit maneuver to get the suspect stopped on Robinson Dairy road around 10:30, Friday morning. The Sheriff's Office says the suspect tried to swallow a large amount of drugs and was taken to the hospital.
The identity of the suspect has not been released, as of the time of this report.
