A social media post that Spartanburg County's Sheriff says could be "considered racially insensitive" has cost a deputy his job. Newly-elected Sheriff Bill Rhyne says he was informed this morning that the comment was posted from the deputy's patrol car.
He was in uniform and on duty at the time. Rhyne has not identified the deputy. The deputy had been with the Sheriff's Office for six years.
The Sheriff's Office did sent out a press release that quoted the social media post. However, we are declining to post or repeat it due to it's racially charged nature. The deputy had been with the Sheriff's Office for six years.
