Deputy injured in Waffle House Parking Lot Incident

A Greenville County Deputy was injured by a suspect that struck several patrol vehicles in an attempt to flee a traffic stop overnight. 9 1 1 dispatchers got a call regarding a suspicious vehicle in a Waffle House parking lot on Roper Mtn. Road just after 1AM, Monday.

When a deputy arrive, the driver attempted to run over the deputy and a pursuit began. The driver rammed multiple Sheriff's Office patrol vehicles, until the suspect's vehicle was forcibly stopped and the suspect was arrested after a brief foot chase.

The suspect, who used his brother’s name and date of birth as an alias at the time of his arrest, has now been identified as 42-year-old Nathan Tamaya Paul.

He was arrested and charged with attempted murder of a law enforcement officer, failure to stop, resisting arrest, driving under suspension and multiple drug trafficking charges and was is detained at the Greenville County Detention Center.
