
Two people including a deputy were injured after shots were fired in a standoff with a suspect in the Low Country, Wednesday.
The Charleston County Sheriff's Office responded to a home in Johns Island and a long standoff ensued. The Sheriff's Office says the suspect, Ernest Robert Burbage III fired shots at deputies, striking one of them in the head.
The injured deputy has been identified as James Gilbreath, he was said to be conscious and alert at a Low Country hospital, as of Wednesday night. There's been no word on the condition or identity of the 2nd victim.
Burbage is wanted for attempted murder. As of the time of this report, he remains at large and a full scale man hunt for the suspect is ongoing.
