As of 12AM Saturday, Greenville County Deputies were on scene in the 1500 block of S. Piedmont Highway, regarding a disturbance which resulted in an officer involved shooting.
According to Sheriff Hobart Lewis Deputies encountered two people, one of those persons was armed. Shots were fired between Deputies and the suspect, the suspect did not survive. SLED has taken over the investigation which is normal practice in an officer-involved shooting.
The 911 call came into Greenville County Communications just before 11:00pm, Friday night. A person has sustained a gunshot wound, however no deputies are injured.
The Sherriff's Office says a Critical Incident video will be released mid-March which is expected to include body-camera footage. Additional details will be released once they learn more.
