Temperatures are expected to dip into the teens at night over the weekend, and with that, many will want to warm up the car in the morning before heading out. But take a moment and heed some advice from the Easley Police Department.
Posted to their Official Facebook Page, Easley PD says although turning on the car to allow it to warm up is tempting, that leaves opportunity for thieves. Even if the vehicle is locked, Easley PD says, with the engine on and everything in place for the car to run, it can still be stolen.
In 2022, over 1 million vehicles were stolen in the U.S. according to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.
