The SCDOT has been getting feedback from residents prior to the construction of a new Buc-ee's gas station in Anderson County. The DOT held a meeting there Tuesday night to discuss changes needed to roads near the proposed site which is on the Liberty Highway exit of I-85.
Buc-ee's is a Texas based company that has become a popular destination for travelers in the 7 states where they currently have locations. The new location is expected to create significant congestion to the Liberty Highway exit.
The DOT feels that upgrades are needed to handle the expected increase in traffic. Several Anderson County leaders were in attendance at Tuesday's meeting.
The expected cost of the project is around 70 million dollars. Buc-ee's has contributed a million dollars to the road upgrade project, thus far.
