SENECA, S.C. – Duke Energy and its World of Energy education center’s 2020 Festival of Trees display and voting contest will be hosted virtually to allow the spotlight to shine on local nonprofits through the COVID-19 pandemic.

“Now more than ever, many nonprofits need community support. We’re excited to host the Festival of Trees virtually so that our nonprofits get the recognition they deserve, and possibly widen their reach to a broader audience,” Duke Energy spokesperson Mikayla Kreuzberger said.

How does the virtual Festival of Trees work? Local businesses, civic organizations and nonprofit groups recently decorated trees provided by the World of Energy. The World of Energy will activate its Festival of Trees website, duke-energy.com/FestivalOfTrees, Nov. 30-Jan. 8. During this time, viewers can browse the online photo display of uniquely decorated trees, and review the decorators’ information and their selected nonprofits. Once viewers pick their favorite tree, they can vote once. The three trees with the most online votes will receive $2,500, $1,500 and $1,000, respectively, for their selected nonprofit.
