An elderly woman struck in front of a Food Lion Grocery Store in Seneca Wednesday, died as a result of a DUI hit and run.
Coroner Karl Addis said 79 year old Laura Ross Hunkele was walking from the store on Bilo Place back toward her vehicle when she was hit. She passed away in the hospital at 12:30pm Wednesday, an hour after the collision.
The vehicle that hit her, did leave the scene, but was later found according to Addis.
66 year old Lori Lynn Smith is charged with felony DUI (driving under the influence), and hit-and-run with death.

Smith was arrested Wednesday and is currently in the Oconee County Detention Center.
