An employee of an Upstate county is dead after an on the job accident. Officials in Cherokee County say an employee fell of the back of garbage truck, Monday afternoon.
The truck was reportedly turning onto Bonner Road in Gaffney when the man fell from the truck to the pavement. He was taken to a hospital, where he later died. The Cherokee County Coroner's Office has identified the deceased as 32 year old John Derrick Dover.
Coroner Dennis Fowler said it was Dover's first day on the job and truck was being driven by his father. The death remains under investigation by the coroner's office and the Highway Patrol.
