Expected weekend impact of Hurricane Ian causes statewide schedule changes

The impact of Hurricane Ian is expected to be felt around South Carolina this weekend. As a result of the expected inclement weekend weather, the schedule of many events have been altered. Specifically, in the world of high school and college athletics. Below is a list of schedule changes related to the weather.

South Carolina Football- The Gamecock athletic dept. announced Tuesday it is moving up the date on this weekend's scheduled game. The Gamecocks will now host South Carolina State on Thursday night at 7 PM, instead of the originally scheduled noon kickoff on Saturday.

It is the opening week of region play for almost all high school football teams around the Upstate. Over a dozen high school football games have been moved up.
Byrnes at Spartanburg has been moved up to Thursday. You can still hear the game here on the Fan Upstate. Pregame coverage of that game will start at 7 PM Thursday night, with kickoff slated for 7:30.
Others include
 Powdersville is hosting BHP that game has also been moved up to Thursday night.

Other notable games that have been moved include
Dorman at Boiling Springs, moved to Thursday at 7:30 p.m.
Chesnee at Landrum, moved to Thursday at 7 p.m.
Blacksburg at Ninety Six, moved to Thursday at 7 p.m.
Woodruff at Chester, moved to Thursday at 7 p.m.
St. Joseph's at Calhoun Falls is now Wednesday at 6:30 PM.
Berea at Greenwood is Thursday at 7:30
Dixie at Southside Christian is Thursday at 730 PM
Liberty at Abbeville is Thursday at 7 PM.
Crescent at Seneca is Thursday at 7:30
Daniel at Walhalla is now Thursday at 7 PM

Wofford Women's Soccer has moved its game with Furman. Wofford was scheduled to host Furman Friday night, that game will now be Thursday at 7 PM.

There's been no changes announced to Clemson's game with N.C. State, at least not yet. I would expect that game will not be changed, unless it is absolutely necessary. Due to ESPN's College Gameday coming to town and the game being a nationally televised prime time matchup Saturday night. Stay tuned, for further changes and updates, as the weekend nears.
