A civil lawsuit has been filed against the Upstate's largest School District after a fatal school shooting, two years ago. The family of Jamari Jackson is suing the Greenville County School District after he was killed in a shooting at Tanglewood Middle School in 2022.

The accused shooter Jordan William Jr. will be tried as an adult in the criminal case, a judge made that ruling last week. The family is being represented by Attorney Bill Young who put together the 17 page document that accuses the School District of concealing how dangerous some of their schools are.

The suit says the District knew how dangerous Williams was because of his history of violent behavior. However, the suit claims the District took no further action and someone was killed as a result. The suspect's parents are also named as defendants accused of allowing him access to a gun at the age of 12.

The District responded with this statement "Greenville County Schools has not been served with a lawsuit, and since the district does not comment on pending litigation until after reviewing a filing, there’s no basis for a comment at this time. The safety of students and staff has been and continues to be Greenville County Schools’ top priority. The district continues to offer our deepest sympathies to Jamari Jackson's family."
