A fatal deputy involved shooting in the Upstate last month has been ruled as justified. On the night of June 15th, the Greenville County Sheriff's Office responded to a home on Arch Street.
Deputies arrived and body cam footage showed a deputy walking towards the home when multiple shots were fired. A 2nd deputy approached the home and encountered the suspect, 55 year old Ronald Dean Beheler.
He was armed with a rifle and the Sheriff's Office says the deputies were concerned that Beheler was firing at someone inside the home. The deputies then shot and killed the suspect. Nobody else was found inside the home during a search of the house following the shooting.
Sheriff Hobart Lewis says the use of deadly force was justified based on the Sheriff's Office policy.
