A federal investigation is ongoing after a gruesome discovery in the mountains over the weekend. FBI officials say, that agents recovered human remains from a wooded area in the Pisgah National Forest of Western North Carolina.
The Madison County Sheriff's Office called the feds in after hunters made the initial discovery, Saturday. The remains have been sent to the FBI lab in Quantico, Virginia to be analyzed.
The FBI says that it's too early to determine the identity of the deceased or what led to their death.
