The debate over Flock Cameras continue after the technology played a major part in finding an Upstate girl who had been abducted last week. Officials say, a Flock Camera in Woodruff that they feel could have help in the investigation was out of service after being damaged.
The girl was found about 24 hours later hundreds of miles away in Arkansas. The alleged kidnappers 31 year old Brandon Lee Britten and his wife Sierra were then taken into custody. Another flock camera elsewhere picked up the suspect's vehicle which helped lead Investigators in Arkansas to the girl and the suspects.
Officials in Woodruff say the camera on Highway 101 could have assisted in the investigation and could have helped them solve the case quicker. Woodruff's Police Department reportedly has 6 Flock Cameras and three of them have been damaged. The one in question was damaged in July and officials say a backlog of damaged cameras all over the country, has slowed the repair process.
In a press conference last week, Spartanburg County Sheriff Bill Rhyne said Flock Cameras played a key role in finding and safely recovering the 12 year old girl. Officials say, she has since been reunited with her family.
