A former American Idol star from the upstate has been granted bond since being charged earlier this year with DUI following a fatal crash. 17-year-old Caleb Kennedy was granted bond earlier today in the fifth hearing since his arrest.
According to his attorney, Kennedy was granted a $50,000 bond and will be placed on home detention after being released. The bond approval comes following a mental evaluation of Kennedy and he was deemed to require mental health counseling.
Kennedy is charged following a fatal February crash that killed 54 year old, Larry Parris. Prosecutors says Kennedy was under the influence when he struck Parris while he was standing in a private driveway.
