
A former bus driver in an Upstate school district is set to spend time behind bars after being sentenced on a sex crime charge. 75 year old Windell Sutton Powell Jr. , a former bus driver for the Oconee County School District ,was sentenced Thursday on a charge of 2nd degree criminal sexual conduct.

The charge came after an investigation was launched in May of last year. Powell was fired by the district after a family member of the victim alerted a sheriff's deputy of text messages between Powell and the teenager.
The victim was a 15 year old special needs student with an IQ of under 70. Powell was sentenced to 10 years, but he will serve just three years in prison, the other 7 years will be spent on house arrest.
