A former "American Idol" contestant from the Upstate will remain behind bars while the court awaits results of blood tests from the February 8th crash that claimed the life of a Spartanburg man. 17-year-old Caleb Kennedy made a tearful apology as his lawyer argued for his release on bond at Thursday's circuit court hearing.

He's charged with felony DUI causing death. 54 year old Larry Parris was fatally injured when Kennedy's pickup went out of control and struck him as he stood in the driveway of his home in Roebuck. The victim's daughter made an emotional appeal to keep Kennedy in jail, but the teen's lawyer says he should not be denied bond just because test results are caught up in a backlog of cases at the state crime lab.
